Many Ritchey-sponsored mountain bike champions were also cyclocross champions—Thomas Frischknecht, Henrik Djernis and Ruthie Matthes, to name a few. And though they were paid to race Ritchey mountain bikes, they often wanted a Ritchey cyclocross bike to race in the winter. This ultimately resulted in another iconic Ritchey model—the Swiss Cross. Now the Swiss Cross is back, and better than ever. We started with the same forged-and-machined integrated head tube design found on the P-29er—80 grams lighter than a standard 1-1/8" head tube and just as strong—a design which also provides much-needed shouldering room at the head tube. Tubing is an all-new triple-butted, heat treated steel designed to Tom's specifications for a classically lightweight, compliant, yet tough-as-nails frame. Geometry has been updated to reflect what 'cross riders want: race-ready handling and responsiveness that's still versatile enough to serve as a capable all-around rough road/trail bike. Tire clearance? Plenty. The Swiss Cross is designed with 'cross racing in mind, after all. Possibly the most iconic frame associated with Ritchey, the Swiss Cross draws its name from early factory rider, cyclocross, and mountain bike legend Thomas Frischknecht. The first iteration of the Swiss Cross was a no-holds-barred race machine designed for one thing: ripping through dirt like no other. Captained to numerous victories under Frischi, the Swiss Cross went on to become one of the most revered frames of the Ritchey offering. Twenty-five years later, the Swiss Cross is still a staple of the Ritchey fleet—now featuring modern standards such as 12mm thru-axles, flat-mount brakes, and higher-volume tire clearance. Yet one thing has remained unchanged: it is still a no-holds-barred race-ready dirt ripper. Pinarello Crossista Frameset

Wherever there is competition, wherever there is a battle for victory, there will always be a Pinarello. Even in the world of cyclocross, their past is full of victories. Today they return with a superb CX bike derived directly from this heritage—it’s called Crossista. In designing the Crossista, Pinarello worked hard to instill the perfect combination of maximum performance and versatility. They aimed to maintain the aerodynamic elements that characterize all their bikes, keeping in mind the mix of surfaces and the increasingly fast race fields of modern cyclocross. The Crossista’s carefully chosen geometry makes the frame very precise when entering a corner as well as reactive at the exit, guaranteeing maximum performance on technical courses. The frame has been developed to have the largest possible room around the tires to prevent mud from building up. Additionally, small but important details have been added to improve its performance even in slower sections of the course. For example, the top tube has an asymmetrical section that adapts to the ergonomics of the shoulder to facilitate carrying the bike, while the thinner section of the rear Flex Stays ensures maximum traction in the roughest terrain. Built with high-end carbon, with internal cable routing and options for 1X or 2X setups, the Crossista successfully maintains the driving feeling and absolute value that is typical of Pinarello.
